Dr. Jason R. Liu is a radiation oncologist and Assistant Clinical Professor at City of Hope South Pasadena, where he also serves as Medical Director. He works with multidisciplinary cancer teams to develop personalized treatment plans.
He earned his medical degree at Penn State College of Medicine and completed radiation oncology residency at City of Hope. His academic work includes more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and abstracts, with recognition from City of Hope, the American Radium Society, the American College of Radiation Oncology, and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer.
Dr. Liu uses modern radiation therapy techniques to provide precise treatment while making care more convenient for patients. When appropriate, he offers hypofractionated treatment, which delivers a higher dose per session over fewer visits, reducing time away from home. He uses respiratory motion management and breath-hold techniques to account for tumor movement during treatment. For selected patients with breast cancer, he offers treatment in the prone position, lying face down, to help reduce radiation exposure to the lungs. Dr. Liu also welcomes second-opinion consultations to review your current cancer treatment plan and provide thoughtful, personalized guidance for you and your family.
